
Minister of Transport and Public Works Jappie Mhango has called on the stakeholder in the construction industry to uphold standards and delivery quality infrastructure projects as Malawi looks to it Malawi 2063 agenda which calls for improved infrastructure development.
Speaking today in Lilongwe when he opened this year’s National Construction Day Celebration Mhango called the stakeholders in the construction industry who will not adhere to the required standards to step aside as they do not have a space in the industry.
“Quality infrastructure is not merely about concrete, steel and asphalt. It is about safeguarding lives, protecting public resources, fostering economic growth and preserving national pride, ” said Mhango.
Held under the theme, “People, Quality and Innovation: Building a Legacy” the event brought together contractors, engineers, architects, consultants, policy makers, development partners and other stakeholders to celebrate construction industry’s contribution to the National development.
Construction Industry Regulatory Authority board chairperson Peter Matipwiri said Malawi need a World class Construction Industry and called on the stakeholder to adhere to the standards and promoting professionalism in the industry.
