
Police in Ntcheu have arrested five well known Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) security cadres, popularly known as “Misters ,” in connection with the kidnapping of 34 year old Lusekero Mwalwanda. Cables can confidently reveal .
Mwalwanda, a resident of Blantyre who originally comes from Kayuni Village under Traditional Authority Kyungu in Karonga District, was abducted from Likhubula in Blantyre, where she was staying.
The suspects have been identified as Wyson Justin (28), Gift Manjomo (35), Enock Limani (37), Save Kalodzera (46), and Ali Mponda (50).
According to reports, members of the public alerted police in Blantyre after witnessing what was believed to be the kidnapping of Mwalwanda.
Police immediately notified stations along major routes and activated roadblocks in an effort to intercept the suspects.
The suspects were eventually stopped at a police roadblock in Ntcheu , 151 KM away while travelling in a Toyota Hiace minibus, registration number NB 2E heading to Lilongwe
During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found the victim bound inside the minibus. The five suspects were arrested on the spot.
The suspects and the victim have since been handed over to Blantyre Police Station, where investigations are continuing.
The motive behind the alleged kidnapping has not yet been established. Police have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident. When contacted , they requested for more time before we made our publication.
