The Government of His Excellency President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing and completing development projects initiated by previous administrations, stressing that national development should not be disrupted by changes in political leadership.
Second Vice President Enock Chihana made the remarks on Sunday during the Annual General Meeting of the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia at Kamuzu Academy in Kasungu, where he represented President Mutharika.
Chihana said development projects belong to all Malawians and should never be abandoned simply because a new government has taken over.
He said the Mutharika administration believes in continuity in development and is committed to ensuring that projects with the potential to improve the lives of Malawians are completed regardless of which administration initiated them.
Among the projects expected to resume is the construction of Mombera University, with Chihana announcing that works on the long-awaited project are expected to restart within the next two months.
The assurance is likely to bring renewed hope to communities and stakeholders who have been waiting for progress on the university project.
Chihana further emphasized that the government’s development agenda is focused on the interests of Malawians, arguing that politics should not stand in the way of projects designed to transform communities and expand opportunities for the country’s citizens.
The Second Vice President’s remarks underline the Mutharika administration’s position that development is a national responsibility and that worthwhile projects should be sustained beyond political transitions.
