Malawi President Arthur Peter Mutharika paid tribute to his late brother, former President Bingu wa Mutharika, at Mpumulo wa Bata in Thyolo.
Mutharika revealed in an exclusive interview with Malawi Broadcasting Corporation that he had planned a private family visit to the resting place of his late brother.
Writing on his Facebook wall in a short and emotional message, President Mutharika wished his brother a peaceful rest.
“Continue resting in peace, my brother,” he posted.
Late Bingu wa Mutharika, the founding father of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party, is remembered for his strong stance on infrastructure development, the fight against corruption, and Malawi’s economic growth, among other contributions.
Meanwhile, President Arthur Peter Mutharika has returned to Sanjika Palace in Blantyre.
