Afaka Tsango A Bonzoe! High Court Acquits Egnat Katengeza in Sister’s Murder Case Over Lack of Evidence
The High Court in Lilongwe has acquitted Egnat Katengeza, who was accused of murdering her sister, Agnes Katengeza, ruling that there was insufficient credible evidence to sustain the murder charge against her.
Egnat had come under suspicion partly because she was reportedly listed as one of the beneficiaries of her late sister’s pension.
However, the court has now cleared her of the murder charge due to a lack of credible evidence linking her to the alleged crime.
Her co-accused, Amos Katengeza, will now face the murder trial alone following her acquittal.
Speaking after the court’s decision, lawyer Khumbo Soko, who represented Egnat, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, saying he was happy that justice had been served for his client.
The acquittal marks a significant development in the case, as the proceedings will now continue against Amos Katengeza alone.
