The Malawi Bureau of Standards has officially launched its Management Information System (MBS-MIS), marking a major milestone in the institution’s digital transformation journey aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and service delivery. The system has officially been launched today at the Bingu International Convention Centre by the Minister of Defence, Honourable Dr. Feston Kaupa.
Speaking during the launch, Honourable Dr. Kaupa described the MBS-MIS as a practical example of how technology can be used to solve real-life challenges and improve public service delivery. He said the initiative aligns with the Malawi 2063 vision, which places digitalisation at the centre of economic transformation.
Speaking during the launch, MBS Director General Mr. Symon O. Mandala described the development as a new way of doing business at MBS built on efficiency and transparency .
The MBS-MIS introduces online applications, real-time tracking of services, automated notifications and faster processing of certifications and inspections. The system is expected to significantly improve service delivery for businesses while strengthening consumer protection through more efficient quality assurance processes.
The system was developed with support from the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project (SATCP), a World Bank-supported initiative.
