Vice President Dr. Jane Mayemu Ansah on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, hosted Miss International Africa Yollanda Chimbarami and Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2025 Lyshanda Moyas for a high-level meeting in Blantyre, focusing on strengthening cultural ties between Malawi and Zimbabwe.
The meeting explored opportunities for deeper collaboration in the creative industries, with the leaders highlighting cultural exchange as an important driver of economic growth, youth empowerment and regional unity.
A key focus of the discussions was the empowerment of young people, particularly through youth-led initiatives and expanded opportunities for young people living with disabilities.
Dr. Ansah commended Chimbarami and Moyas for using their international platforms to champion social causes and inspire positive change.
She described the two beauty queens as influential role models whose leadership, advocacy and commitment to social development can inspire young people across Africa to pursue meaningful change.
The meeting further underscored the potential of cultural diplomacy and the creative industries to strengthen the longstanding relationship between Malawi and Zimbabwe.
