Police in Mangochi have arrested eight people at Chilipa in connection with fracas that resulted into vandalism of Chilipa Police Unit, Court and injury of a Police officer following disappearance of of a 14 years old boy Alli Nuru.
According to Mangochi Police Public Relations Officer Amina Tepani Daudi the eight who are family members have been identified as Amina Alidi, 38, Wisiki Saidi, 40, Ibra Muhajiri 22, Liyasa Maulana 25, Yusufu Kamwana 28, Binali Umali 28, Muhajiri Saidi 39 and 15 years old daughter of Amina Alidi the first suspect.
They boy went on missing and his mother Amina Alidi reported the matter to Chilipa Police early last month.
Following disagreement on how the case was being handled the suspects vandalised structures at Chilipa Police and Court building also injured a Police Officer.
On 2 September 2026 Police managed to trace and arrest the eight suspects, who have been on the run for several days with assistance of othet community members as manhunt for the remaining suspects continues.
Dramatically the boy who suspected to be taken by someone was found alive, walking freely in Balaka Township where he was doing some pieceworks without his mother’s knowledge.
