
Food inflation rate continued to ease in June, as it has declined, dropping from 17.6 percent in May to 14.7 percent.
According to latest National Statistical Office stats flash, the rate has dropped by 2.3 percent, declining from 23.4 percent in May to 21.1 percent in June, as food inflation declined from 17.6 percent to 14.7 percent.
Meanwhile, non-food inflation, which had been exerting pressure due to recent global fuel supply chain disruptions, also moderated in June, easing slightly to 32.1 percent from 33 percent in May.
Malawi’s inflation rate has remained above 20 percent for the recent years, as neighbouring countries have managed to keep their inflation below five percent
