Minister of Transport and Public Works Jappie Mhango has stated that road rehabilitation is the first step towards national development in the country.
Mhango made the remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Lot 2 of Golomoti-Monkey Bay road rehabilitation to be financed by the National Bank of Malawi to the tune of 100 billion kwacha.
Speaking at the event National Bank board chairperson Grant Kabango said as financial institutions they value development initiatives and they are open to support similar projects in future.
Newton Kambala board member of Road Authority said the project will help to easy road transportation and reduce road accidents.
Lot 2 will run from Chantulo to Golomoti and as Lot 1 which will be financed by FDH Bank with a tune of 100 billion kwacha.
