SMEDI CEO Kondwani Kachamba has allegedly awarded a contract worth millions to a company that was less than six months old and is reportedly linked to members of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) media team through Shadreck Namalomba.

The company, DIGITAL MEDIA SNIPER TECH, was reportedly registered in the names of State House Media Officer Francis Kanduwa and other members of the DPP media team.

Sources familiar with the matter allege that the company was established specifically to secure government contracts, with proceeds intended to be shared among members of the DPP media team.

However, after DIGITAL MEDIA SNIPER TECH secured contracts from SMEDI, including one reportedly worth millions of kwacha, Namalomba and Kanduwa allegedly did not inform the wider grouping that makes up the DPP media team about the contract or how its proceeds were being shared.

Sources further allege that the company has been putting pressure on other government CEOs to award it contracts, with claims that those who refuse could risk losing their positions.

The allegations have reportedly contributed to divisions within the grouping, with some members expressing growing dissatisfaction with the DPP leadership and the manner in which the group’s affairs are being handled.

Critics say the allegations raise fresh questions about transparency and accountability in the awarding and management of government contracts.
