NEEF Officer Cum MCP Supporter Arrested After Exposing Alleged Corruption at NEEF Involving Chakwera’s Son and CEO

A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) supporter and employee of the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF), formerly MARDEF, has been arrested and is currently being held at Lingadzi Police Station. The arrest comes after she allegedly exposed how taxpayers’ money at NEEF is being misappropriated by President Lazarus Chakwera’s son, Nick Chakwera, NEEF Chief Executive Officer Mdyetseni, and others.

The employee, identified as Rose Jiya, has been charged with cyber harassment. However, our investigations suggest this charge is a smokescreen designed to silence her from revealing the extent of corruption at NEEF. Jiya reportedly declined to participate in the looting and chose to speak out against the misuse of public funds under her watch.

This case has drawn attention to the alleged corruption involving senior figures at NEEF and raises serious concerns about the misuse of taxpayers’ money. It remains to be seen whether this arrest is an attempt to suppress whistleblowers or if it will spark further investigations into these serious allegations.
