Malawi Vice President Dr Jane Ansah on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, hosted a farewell luncheon in Blantyre for people with short stature and people with albinism who had been attending driving lessons at Sabwera Driving School under the Jane Ansah Foundation.
Speaking during the luncheon, Ansah said supporting people with short stature and people with albinism remains one of her passions, encouraging the beneficiaries to believe in themselves, develop a vision for their lives and work towards achieving their aspirations.
She urged them not to allow societal barriers or negative perceptions to limit their opportunities, stressing the importance of confidence, determination and equal access to opportunities.
One of the beneficiaries, Rodwell Kamenya, popularly known as Mr Handisamu, commended the Jane Ansah Foundation for supporting his ambition to learn how to drive a manual vehicle.
Kamenya said his passion for driving began several years ago when he had a personal gear extension fitted to make it easier for him to reach and operate the vehicle’s gears.
He encouraged other people with short stature to believe in their abilities, pursue their aspirations and not allow circumstances or societal perceptions to discourage them from achieving their goals.
Kamenya said his experience demonstrates the importance of creating an inclusive environment where people can access opportunities, develop their skills and pursue their aspirations regardless of physical differences.
The luncheon marked the conclusion of the beneficiaries’ driving lessons and underscored the Jane Ansah Foundation’s focus on promoting inclusion, independence, skills development and equal opportunities for people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
