The Roads Fund Administration (RFA) has reviewed that number of vehicles passing through toll gates at Chingeni and Kalinyeke toll gates has declined by 22 percent from April to June 2026 financial year compared to same period in 2025.
This was reviewed during the press briefing by RFA at Chingeni Tollgate in Ntcheu today.
The Roads Fund Administration highlighted that despite the decrease in number of vehicles passing through the tollgate there is 56 percent increase in toll revenue collected from April to June 2026 as they have managed to collect K1.77 billion compared to K1.13 billion during the same period last year.
RFA has attributed the increase to the adjustment of toll fee in January 2026 that helped them to collect K650 million as increase for this first quarter of 2026/27 financial year.
Speaking at the press briefing RFA Finance Manager James Dzozi says the revenue growth demonstrate the impact of toll fee revision done in January 2026.
Currently Malawi has two tollgate namely Chingeni Toll Plaza in Ntcheu and Kalinyeke Toll Plaza in Dedza district which started operating in November 2021 and January 2022 respectively.
