Malawi Police secretly arrested Shafiq Bemati, aka Sadiq, over a parallel immigration network which he has been operating to facilitate fake visas, work permits, academic certificates and residence permits for Asians.
Several people lodged complaints with the Malawi Police regarding fake permits and certificates that Bemati issued to them to facilitate the renewal of their fake permits.
He duped victims of over MK150 million.
However, Cables has it on authority that the police again released him silently on police bail, after some police officers were bribed, and he was told to sort out his problems with the victims and refund their money.
Four other people have also been arrested for working as Dobadobas at Blantyre Immigration.
Cables is pulling a money trail involving Mpamba and Airtel Money transactions involving some immigration officers who are aiding the syndicate.
