Police in Dowa have arrested a nurse working at Dowa District Hospital, Chipiliro Suwali ,30, for allegedly obtaining money amounting to over K10 million from people after promising them jobs as Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs).
Dowa Police Public Relations Officer Alice Sitima said Suwali who claiming that he had connections with Human Resource Management officers in the Ministry of Health, allegedly collected money from people in Balaka, Mangochi, Ntchisi, Salima, Blantyre and Dowa districts over the past two weeks.
According to Sitima police arrested the suspect following complaints from concerned individuals, and sized his mobile phone to assist with further investigations.
ChipiliroSuwali who comes from Nkhonya village in the area of Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje district will soon appear in court soon to answer the fraud and theft charges.
