The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has released the 2026 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination results.
According to a press release dated 7 September 2026, 111,510 out of 188,169 candidates who sat for the examination have passed, representing a 59.26 percent pass rate.
The results show that male candidates recorded a higher pass rate than their female counterparts,of the 98,020 male candidates who sat for the examination, 63,037 passed, representing a 62.80 percent pass rate.
Meanwhile, 48,473 out of 90,149 female candidates passed, representing a 53.77 percent pass rate.
MANEB says candidates are awarded the MSCE if they satisfy either of two conditions: obtaining a pass in six subjects, including English, with a credit pass in at least one of them, or obtaining a pass in five subjects, including English, with credit passes in at least three subjects.
Karonga has emerged as best performing district based on proportion of distinctions, recording 11.41 percent
The release does not indicate the number of candidates who have been selected for tertiary education.
