Kanengo Police in Lilongwe have arrested five people identified as Aaron Bandawe, Emmanuel Kaponda, Amon Chembe Molesiyo, and Lameck Ndhovu in connection with the theft of groundnuts worth K29 million from Kista Limited in Area 29, Lilongwe while Emily Lewis was arrested for allegedly buying suspected stolen goods.
Macfarlen Mseteka, Kanengo Police Public Relations Officer, said the incident happened between September 8 and 9, 2026, when unknown criminals tied up four security guards before breaking into the company’s warehouse and stealing 130 bags of groundnuts, six bags of rice and a stitching machine.
Mseteka said police have since recovered all 130 bags of groundnuts and detained a five-tonne green Fuso Fighter truck, registration number CK8866, allegedly used to transport the stolen goods.
Suspects are expected to appear before the court after completion of paperwork as investigation to arrest other suspects and recovery other stolen items continues.
