The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested two Mzuzu High Court officers, Assistant Sheriff Officer Victor Thumbiko Nyirenda and Court Marshal Raniger Simbeye over separate allegations of corruption and fraud.
Nyirenda faces charges of misuse of public office, soliciting a bribe and theft after allegedly failing to account for K1.1 million and demanding K30,000 to influence a magistrate.
Simbeye is accused of giving false information to an ACB officer and producing a forged receipt over an alleged K500,000 payment to a judgment creditor.
Both Nyirenda and Simbeye pleaded not guilty on October 28, with trial set for November 23. Nyirenda also faces a separate case over an allegedly unlawful vehicle sale, scheduled for November 12.
