Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Chimwemwe Chipungu has told reporters that several cabinet ministers and other politically exposed persons are suspected of dubiously acquiring plots in Lilongwe’s Area 3 and Area 10.
Speaking to the media today, Chipungu said the ministry will make the names of the people involved in the malpractice to be known to the public by publishing them.
The Minister said he has a list of names which include what he called “big people” that will be published in newspapers “soon”.
” I have the list, mark my words, this will be made public. We have nothing to hide. Take my word this will be published. ” said Chipungu ”
He added that the fact that the Ministry undertook this exercise says a lot about its determination to improve transparency in land administration.
