Malawi Women Football team the Scorchers has qualified to 2027 FIFA Women World Cup for the first time after beating Ghana 2 -1 at Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals in Morocco.
Ghana opened scores on 7 minutes through Boye- Hlorkah before Temwa Chawinga equalise at 12 minutes in the first half.
Malawi showed quality football no wonder Rose Kabzere scored the wining goal at 79th minutes in second half.
The win saw the Scorchers reaching semifinal stage at its first appearance at the tournament and automatically qualified to 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup to take place in Brazil.
Scorchers will face Algeria in first semifinal match to be played on 12th August 2026 as the host Morocco will play Cameron.
