President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has assured the Malawi Red Cross Society of a conducive working environment for its activities.
He was speaking on Friday at Kamuzu Palace during the official launch of the 2026 Red Cross Day and Red Cross Flag Week.
President Mutharika donated K10 million to Red Cross.
He commended the institution for being available to people in need.
He added that this year’s theme, ‘United in Humanity’ is a reminder that in every response and every emblem, there is one truth that is, united in humanity.
On his part Malawi Red Cross Society President Innocent Majiya said the President has demonstrated leadership by recognizing the Society’s vital role in complementing national efforts to safeguard lives and livelihoods.
Majiya also commended the government for co-funding the Malawi Red Cross Disaster Response Operation Centre, which is expected to be completed within the next four months.
