Minister of Information Lied to Malawians as VP Hints She Funded UK Trip

Malawi Vice President Jane Ansah has hinted that her recent trip to the United Kingdom was funded from her personal resources, contradicting claims made by Minister of Information Shadreck Namalomba.

The minister had informed Malawians that the trip would cost MK 168 million—a figure now called into question by Ansah’s statements.

Ansah emphasized that any reports suggesting the trip was financed with public funds are inaccurate and do not reflect the truth.

It is on record that Minister Namalomba told Malawians the government was to fund the trip to the tune of MK 168 million, a claim that VP Ansah has refuted.

In his recent address to the nation, President Mutharika confirmed that Vice President Ansah assured him she was not using government funds for her trip.

Following these revelations, Malawians are demanding answers from the Minister of Information regarding his assertion that VP Ansah spent MK 168 million on the trip.

As of press time, the Minister of Information had not commented on the matter.

This development raises serious questions about the accuracy of government communications and the transparency of information being shared with the public.
