Malawi Cables can confidently reveal that pump prices for diesel and petrol are set to increase once more, adding pressure on already strained household and business budgets.
The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) announced the fuel price hikes on 2nd April with petrol rising to K6,672 per litre and diesel to K6,687 , representing a 34 percent and 35 percent increase .
Cables have it on authority that the upcoming adjustment could take effect soon, although official confirmation from authorities is still pending.
Despite the previous hike , it has been hard for Malawians to have stable fuel supply across the country .
Prices of goods and services went upwards automatically and with the scheduled increase in the fuel prices , the cost of living for Malawians is set to be unbelievable.
Last week , the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority board approved a new Chief Executive officer and a week later , his first achievement to Malawians will be a rise in the fuel prices .
