Two years after the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of former Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima and eight others during the Malawi Congress Party regime ,the Chilima family has announced plans to unveil his mausoleum on June 13 at Nsipe in Ntcheu.
The ceremony comes amid continued public grief, unanswered questions, and growing calls for accountability surrounding the circumstances of the crash that shook the nation.
Speaking to Zodiak this afternoon, Chairperson of the organising committee, Dr. Efrem Chilima, said the family wants to honour the life, legacy, and service of the former Vice President, describing him as a leader who touched countless lives across Malawi.
Dr. Chilima said the unveiling ceremony will include a memorial mass, tributes, and speeches celebrating the life of the former UTM leader whose death left a deep wound in the country’s political landscape.
As Malawi remembers Saulos Chilima, many continue to reflect on the legacy of a man seen by supporters as a symbol of hope, reform, and fearless leadership.
