Simba Sporting Club from Tanzania has donated groceries worth five million kwacha to the Ministry of Hope Crisis Nursery in Lilongwe ahead of its CAF Champions League match against Mighty Wanderers tomorrow.
According to Ahmed Ally leader of Simba SC delegation, the donation is part of the club’s corporate social responsibility activities and reached out to the Ministry of Hope after identifying the organisation as a place where they can do charities during their stay in Malawi.
The delegation helped the Ministry of Hope with items like baby milk, rice, nappies, beans, sugar, cooking oil, soap and salt.
Executive Director of Ministry of Hope Daniel Moyo expressed gratitude to Simba Sporting Club for the gesture.
Moyo said the donation will go a long way reaching to babies under the organisation Crisis Nursery programme who are either orphaned or abandoned by their parents.
He called on organisations and other sporting organisations to emulate what Simba Sporting Club has done through its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Ahmed Ally then thanked Ministry of Hope Crisis Nursery for allowing them to come with their support to them and contribute to welfare of the children.
