
Speaker of Parliament Sameer Suleman has expressed concern with tendency of some Members of Parliament who abscond Parliamentary discussions despite submitting questions to ministries.
Suleman raised the concerns after noticing that some questions listed for oral response had no MP to confirm them despite being submitted by those members who were supposed to be available in the chamber when questions are being answered by responsible ministry.
In the morning Minister of Energy Jean Mathanga was responding questions from legislators on electricity issues.
Mathanga said the Malawi Rural Electrification Program (MAREP) 10 will be launched soon as they are currently in procurement stage for the new programme.
It’s a matter of concern that Members of Parliament who uses tax payers money they are not physically present in Parliament representing their constituencies.
