The Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA), Kanyama, together with the Director of Legal Affairs, Larry, have been posted to the Malawi School of Government.
However, cables can exclusively reveal that the two senior officials are currently negotiating arrangements that would allow them to complete their existing contracts, which run until May 2026.
Kanyama and Larry have been widely cited as central figures in the fuel shortages and procurement scandals that have plagued NOCMA over the past few years.
They were also at the heart of decisions that led to the dismissal of permanent NOCMA staff following the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) assuming power in 2020.
