MOTORIST LORDMARLVEN NECHAVAVA DEMAND K297.8 MILLION AND WRITTEN APOLOGY FROM BLANTYRE CITY MAYOR JOMO OSMAN

Andy Ten November 2, 2026 (Last updated: November 2, 2026)

A Blantyre-based motorist Lordmarlven Nechavava is demanding K297.8 million and a written apology from Blantyre City Mayor Isaac Jomo Osman over an alleged assault at a fuel station that cause jaw injuries that have made eating difficult.

Through Ritz Attorneys-at-Law Nechavava wants K297,789,437.96 from Osman and Blantyre City Council for his alleged assault which occurred at Mount Pleasant in Blantyre on October 28, 2026.

The motorist in a letter dated 29, October 2026, is demanding K97.8 million in general damages and K200 million in aggravated or exemplary damages excluding medical expenses.

The letter signed by Yankho Kawalewale claims Nechavava was queuing for fuel when he challenged Osman’s decision to move a motorist who had spent three days at the station.

The demand comes barely a day after the motorist officially lodged a complaint at Blantyre Police Station against the Blantyre City Mayor saying he carried a stick and struck him.

“Our client further demands of the mayor and the council a written apology for the regrettable, deplorable and despicable conduct. The payment and the written apology are required within seven days of the date of this letter,” reads the letter.
