
Malawi Electoral Commission has announced that it will conduct a fresh parliamentary elections for Nsanje South and Mangochi East constituencies on 29th September 2026 following the Court nullification of the 2025 parliamentary elections results of the two constituencies.
In a press statement MEC chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja says during this fresh elections there will be no registration for new voters, no voter transfer and no nominations of new candidates, expect where candidate in the nullified elections has been disqualified, died or become incapacitated l.
Mtalimanja said the official 60 days campaign period for the election will run from 30th July to 27th September 2026, as candidates will collect and submit letters of intentions to contest between 30th July and 7th September 2026. The voters inspection will take place from 14th to 15th August 2026.
She also announced that pre-checking of polling materials will take place on 28th September ahead of polling, vote counting and announcement on 29th September 2026.
Mtalimanja in a statement says the fresh elections are held in accordance with the Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Elections Act of 2023.
