Despite 4-1 lead Masters FC have been awarded a 3-0 victory by Super League of Malawi (Sulom) which has launched an investigation into the cause of the floodlight failure at Bingu National Stadium (BNS) that resulted into disruption of Sunday’s FDH Bank Premiership match between Masters FC and Karonga United.
According to a statement released by Sulom said Masters had been awarded a 3–0 victory, although they had been leading 4–1 when the match was suspended.
Karonga United refused to return to the pitch when play was due to resume as the game was halted for 25 minutes after a blackout at BNS.
Sulom in the statement said the decision to award a victory to Masters FC was in line with Article 23.3 of the Sulom Rules and Regulations (2026).
The Super League governing body further indicated that Karonga United would be charged with causing the abandonment of the match.
