Former Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, who was previously reported by Cables to be in South Africa, has now reportedly applied for asylum, citing political persecution in Malawi.
According to the same reports, she is unlikely to return to testify in connection with the Amaryllis Hotel scandal, contrary to earlier expectations.
Cables had also indicated that she allegedly secured her departure and possible immunity from immediate legal action through payments amounting to approximately MK3 billion to certain officials within the DPP.
Beyond the Amaryllis Hotel matter, Zamba has been linked in public discourse to a number of other allegations, including questions around procurement processes, abuse of office, and financial mismanagement during her tenure.
As developments continue, attention remains on whether formal charges will be pursued and how authorities will address the issue with this revelation
