Cables has obtained a classified document exposing senior government officials allegedly linked to a human trafficking syndicate involving Bangladeshi national Barher Sakar and Rizwan.

The senior government officials communicating to Barher Sakar on his numbers 0994 917 596 and 0899 472 704, which are registered in other people’s names.

At first, when the ministers knew of Saker and Rizwan dealings, they started to extort from the two only ending up in a bigger mess than they thought .

The document outlines the following individuals as allegedly implicated:

  • Five cabinet ministers and we have their names.
  • One son-in-law of a cabinet minister
  • Two sons of cabinet members
  • One brother of a cabinet minister
  • Immigration official Steven Banda
  • Deputy CID Director Mr. Nkhoma of Police Headquarters
  • Three senior army officials
  • Two senior National Intelligence Service (NIS) officials

According to the document, one senior cabinet official was allegedly offered MK 500 million by Barher Sakar in exchange for facilitating a fuel supply arrangement.

It is further alleged that Barher Sakar was awarded a contract as a distributor at Salima Sugar prior to his arrest.

Investigations also indicate that a company linked to Bahar and Rizwan IK Investments was registered in partnership with a brother of a cabinet minister and reportedly holds several contracts with the Malawi Defence Force.

We have every single name , financial transactions, phone numbers and cables can confidently reveal that the major development partners are closely monitoring the issue .

We have deliberately withheld the names as a way of not undermining the office of the President of Malawi and other international agencies which have an interest in this matter .

Only cables have the details .
