Chairperson of Muli Brothers Holdings, Leston Muli, has said the business environment in Malawi has significantly improved following the change of government under the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration led by President Arthur Peter Mutharika (APM).
Muli made the remarks during a thanksgiving prayer service held at the company’s headquarters in Chigumula, Blantyre.
He noted that the previous few years had been particularly challenging for businesses, including his own companies, which he said were frequently affected by legal disputes and arrests that disrupted operations.
According to Muli, the new administration has created a more favorable and predictable environment for doing business, allowing local enterprises to operate without undue interference.
He further urged Malawians and national leadership to deliberately support indigenous businesses, especially those involved in exports, arguing that local investors are key to sustainable economic growth.
“There is no country that can develop if its business environment does not support and protect local businesses,” said Muli.
