First Lady Gertrude Mutharika has commended Lions Club for its impactful humanitarian work in the country.
She made the remarks Friday at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach International Conference Centre in Salima, where she opened the Lions Multiple District 412 Convention.
Mutharika said Lions hospitals have restored sight to many and supported victims of the 2019 floods and 2023 Tropical Cyclone Freddy.
“There is no greater joy than making an impact in someone’s life. You did not just bring aid, but hope. Your impact is great,” she said.
Lion Victor Gondwe commended the First Lady for the Beautify Malawi (BEAM) Trust, which promotes environmental sustainability and public health.
Lion Hastings Chiti from Zambia said the Lions Club is producing leaders who serve with integrity in both the private and public sectors.
