The Vice President of Malawi, Jane Ansah, has joined hundreds of Roman Catholic faithful in mourning the passing of Father Francis Damaseke, a dedicated and beloved priest who died on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

A solemn Holy Mass is currently underway at Likuni Parish, where mourners have gathered in large numbers to pay their final respects. The late Fr. Damaseke is expected to be laid to rest at the same parish, marking a poignant farewell in a place that holds deep spiritual significance for many.

Fr. Damaseke was born on September 27, 1986, and was ordained into the priesthood on July 9, 2016. At the time of his untimely death, he was serving at Nathenje Parish, where he was widely admired for his humility, pastoral dedication, and commitment to uplifting his community.

His passing has left a profound void among parishioners, fellow clergy, and the wider Catholic community in Malawi. Tributes continue to pour in, with many remembering him as a compassionate spiritual leader who devoted his life to service, faith, and the well-being of others.

As the nation mourns, the presence of the Vice President underscores the significant impact Fr. Damaseke had, not only within the Church but across Malawian society.
