State Vice President Jane Ansah has joined First Lady Gertrude Mutharika and other Malawians in congratulating football star Temwa Chawinga on becoming the first African woman to finish in the top 10 of the Ballon d’Or rankings.
In a Facebook post, Ansah described Chawinga’s achievement as a proud national milestone that showcases Malawi’s talent, determination and potential on the global stage.
She noted that Chawinga has spent more than four consecutive years breaking records at both club and national levels, helping to raise Malawi’s profile in international football.
Ansah said the achievement should inspire young people to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams and strive for excellence, as Malawi looks ahead to next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Her message follows similar congratulatory remarks from First Lady Gertrude Mutharika, who also hailed Chawinga’s recognition as a source of national pride.
