Vice President Dr Jane Ansah on Monday, October 19, joined family members, traditional leaders and several Members of Parliament at the funeral service of her late uncle, Felix Jobe Nyaka, who died at the age of 89.
The funeral service took place at Jobe Nyaka Village in Kamphata, Lilongwe, bringing together leaders from different constituencies to pay their last respects to the deceased.
Among the parliamentarians who attended were Baba Steve Malondera, Member of Parliament for the area, Joseph Malingamoyo of Ntcheu East, Enock Phale of Salima Central West, and Kendal Kamwendo of Dowa Mndolera Constituency.
Other legislators present included George Katunga Million of Phalombe Central, Ibrahim Sadala Yahard of Nkhotakota South-East, and Arthur Chipungu of Ntcheu North-East.
The ceremony was also attended by Senior Chief Kalumbu of Lilongwe and Senior Chief Njolomole of Ntcheu, alongside other mourners who gathered to honour the life and legacy of the late Nyaka.
The gathering highlighted a moment of unity and solidarity, as political leaders and traditional authorities came together to stand with the Vice President and her family during a time of bereavement.
Beyond political affiliations and constituency boundaries, the funeral provided an opportunity for leaders to share in the family’s grief and pay tribute to the life of a respected elder.
