
Police in Kasungu have arrested a 59-years-old man, Kamanga Saka for allegedly killing his 39 years old nephew Lameck Phiri.
According to Kasungu Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Miracle Hauli, the incident occurred on 24th August 2026 when Saka found Phiri at his sister’s house and accused him of causing problems in the village.
Hauli said that suspect allegedly struck his nephew with a metal bar on both sides of the stomach that resulted into swelling of the stomach and he was taken to Kasungu District Hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Phiri died on 29th August 2026 while receiving treatment following injuries he sustained during the assault.
“Kasungu District Hospital postmortem results revealed that the death was caused by visceral injury secondary to severe blunt force trauma, ” She said.
Saka comes from Ching’amba Village, Traditional Authority Lukwa in Kasungu and is expected to appear before the court soon to answer charges leveled against him.
