Word of Faith Temple says veteran broadcaster Brian Banda will be remembered as a dedicated pastor who remained committed to church ministry apart from his well known career in media industry.
In his eulogy at the church service in honour of Banda, Apostle Timothy Khoviwa struggled to contain his emotions as he stood at the pulpit where Banda used to minister as a pastor.
Khoviwa said Banda joined the church in 2012 and remained committed to its activities, eventually serving as resident pastor at the City of Wonders Cathedral.
“To think that Brian is lying in this box today is more than just unthinkable,” Khoviwa said, tears streaming down his cheeks.
Banda was widely known for his broadcasting career, where he worked with Capital FM Radio, Times Group, worked at state house two times during the periods of Dr Joyce Banda and Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and joined Malawi Broadcasting Corporation as Director General in March 2026.
He died yesterday at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre after a short illness and the burial will take place on Monday 10th August 2026 at his home village in Chileka near Bakili Muluzi International Airport in Blantyre
