Malawi Women Football Team head coach Lovemore Fazili says they are fully prepared for their second match today against Egypt’s Cleopatras at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Scorchers head into the match from their historic 3-2 victory over defending champions Nigeria in their first game, while Egypt are looking to recover after a 6-0 defeat to Zambia and the match is expected to start at 19:00 hours local time.
Fazili assured Malawians that his players remain focused on today’s game as their win against Nigeria will not affect them.
“I want to assure Malawians that this is a totally different and difficult game because we are not yet through to the quarter-finals. This match is very important for us,” said Fazili.
He added that technical panel has addressed all the technical issues and they are looking for a win and scoring more goals
“We have addressed almost all the technical issues ” We are not just looking for three points, but we also want to score more goals because goal difference could become important.” He said.
The Scorchers are second in Group C with three points, and a victory over Egypt would take them to six points and move them closer to a place in the quarter-finals.
