Mangochi Police Station has registered 8% crime increase in first six months of 2026 with 590 cases compared to 542 cases in same period last year.
This was disclosed by the Station Officer Peter Kalaya during the biannual review of crime and traffic management organised by Mangochi Police Station Executive Committee.
According to Kalaya the reported crimes include robbery, murder, sexual offences, burglary, assault and defilement.
Kalaya said the Station has also registered a decrease in road traffic accidents by 29 percent during this period compared to last year.
Police attributed the crime increase to the population growth but assured people in the district that they are committed to ensure that security is available all the time.
