

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Fleetwood Haiya has encouraged the Malawi Women Football team the Scorchers as preparations for this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) expected to begin soon in Morocco.
Speaking yesterday in Chiwembe township where Scorchers at doing there preparations Haiya said he will continue providing support and encouragement to the players so that the team should produce positive results once the competition commence in Rabat.
On her part captain for the team Tabitha Chawinga said players are now fully prepared to do better at the competition and country should expect more from them.
At this year’s Wafcon the Scorchers are in group C along side defending champions Nigeria, Egypt and Zambia and their first game will be against Nigeria on 28 July 2026 in Rabat, Morocco before facing Egypt and later on Zambia.
