Ntchisi Parliamentarians Decry Exclusion from Chakwera’s Last Cabinet

Members of Parliament from Ntchisi District have expressed their discontent after being left out of the newly appointed cabinet. None of the district’s parliamentarians were included, sparking frustration among the lawmakers.

Taking to social media, the MPs voiced their grievances, with a leaked WhatsApp chat revealing their concerns. In the chat, the parliamentarians criticized party heavyweights for allegedly dismissing them as unqualified or “illiterate,” despite their loyalty and support in parliament.

The MPs accused the party of overlooking their contributions in favor of outsiders, who were appointed to cabinet positions instead.

The announcement comes as outgoing President Lazarus Chakwera names his final cabinet, just eight months before the general elections. The move has deepened frustrations within the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), with many questioning the prioritization of non-parliamentarians over long-serving party loyalists.
