There has been a wave of police transfers in the southern region, raising speculation about the motive behind the reshuffle. Reports indicate that senior officers in key districts have been moved to prevent them from overseeing tally centers in areas with high voter populations on September 16.
Notable changes include the transfer of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) and Station Officer (S/O) in Mulanje, Nsanje, Chiromo, Chikwawa, and Ngabu. These positions have reportedly been filled with officers aligned with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), including Moses Chibwe, who was previously seen distributing MCP materials at Limbe Market and is currently the Commandant at PTS Limbe.
The timing and nature of these transfers have sparked concerns about possible political interference in the electoral process.
