The Malawi government has allegedly turned into a criminal enterprise under the leadership of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and outgoing President Lazarus Chakwera.
If it’s not corruption, theft of government funds, police abuse, or fraudulent schemes to defraud Malawi, then it’s the Kamwangalas—allegedly at the center of MCP operations at State House—facilitating suspicious deals in fertilizer and fuel procurement. Adding to this, Diana Kamwangala, married to Mmangwana and serving in the judiciary, is accused of issuing dubious warrants through the Child Justice Courts to arrest individuals who are not minors, overstepping her jurisdiction.
Diana Kamwangala, née Mangwana, is a well-educated individual but is allegedly part of the Kamwangala criminal syndicate.
This publication has uncovered that Her Worship Diana Kamwangala Mmangwana is a staunch MCP loyalist, now being used as a tool to suppress opposition members.
Her direct brother, Clement Kamwangala, is married to Kate Kamwangala infamous for her alleged involvement in fraudulent fuel procurement deals with Dubai based businessmen. These deals were reportedly designed to siphon government funds to finance MCP and enrich high-ranking officials, including outgoing President Lazarus Chakwera.
Allegedly, these transactions were sanctioned by Collin Zamba, a controversial figure entrusted by Chakwera to oversee government finances as Secretary to the President and Cabinet. Zamba, who is reportedly married to a Zimbabwean intelligence officer, has been linked to a series of high-profile corruption scandals involving Nigerians and the Kamwangalas.
This publication has further established that the Kamwangalas are running illicit deals for the MCP from South Africa, acting as financial “fixers” for outgoing President Chakwera.
Another Kamwangala relative, Doko Phungu is a key figure at the Malawi Embassy in South Africa.
He has been accused of aiding the Kamwangala syndicate and the MCP in illicit financial dealings at the embassy. Previously, Phungu was convicted and jailed for 18 months for his involvement in the Cashgate scandal, a case directly tied to Kate Kamwangala, who is married to Clement Kamwangala.
The magistrate Mmangwana is also under spotlight on corruption allegations which were addressed to the Chief Justice by concerned Malawians who have suffered because of her corruption and suspicious judgement at the Child justice court .
This complex network of individuals, allegedly working as an extension of MCP, has been accused of using their positions to exploit Malawians financially and persecute opposition figures.
