According to information available to us, President Mutharika last chaired a Cabinet meeting on 23 February 2026.
Furthermore, sources indicate that the Cabinet meeting held on 27 May 2026 was chaired by a Cabinet minister.
It is also alleged that Vice President Jane Ansah and Second Vice President Enock Chihana both constitutionally senior members of Cabinet were prevented from presiding over the meeting with the absence of Mutharika at the recent meeting .
