MCP Police in Hot Water as No Case Stands Against DPP VP Alfred Gangata

In a dramatic turn of events, police are struggling to formally charge DPP Vice President for the Central Region, Cylone Alfred Gangata, after investigations revealed that the case against him is politically motivated and lacks credible evidence.

Gangata was arrested on Monday after voluntarily surrendering to the police upon learning that officers had mistakenly raided the wrong home in search of him.

Upon his arrival at Police Headquarters in Area 30, he was transferred to Kanengo Police Station, where he remains detained without any formal charges. Sources indicate that the magistrate who issued the warrant of arrest may have erred, as it should have been a search warrant instead.

According to police insiders, investigations so far confirm that the certificate in question is legitimate. However, authorities are reportedly under pressure to pursue the case based on claims that Gangata allegedly had someone else sit the exams on his behalf.

Other sources suggest that Gangata’s arrest is linked to the growing political pressure he has been exerting on the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the central region. Following his successful rally in Salima, he was set to address large gatherings in Nkhotakota and Ntchisi Districts, raising speculation that his detention is politically motivated.

As the case unfolds, all eyes remain on the authorities to see how they will proceed amid mounting concerns over political interference in legal matters.
