Lazarus Chakwera Caught in Another Lie: No Kamphenda Health Center Built in Rumphi

Malawi’s outgoing President Lazarus Chakwera has once again come under fire for making false claims in his State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Fresh revelations indicate that no construction has taken place at Kamphenda Health Center in Rumphi, contradicting Chakwera’s statement in Parliament.

This comes just hours after the Phalombe District Council Chairperson dismissed Chakwera’s claim that 29 security staff houses had been built in Phalombe.

A Pattern of Deception?

Critics say Chakwera has consistently misled Malawians, raising questions about his credibility as he nears the end of his presidency.

Social commentators have condemned his blatant falsehoods, questioning what kind of leader fabricates achievements in Parliament, a house of records, in front of major donors and the international community.

With Chakwera’s track record of misinformation, many are now demanding transparency—even on the events leading to the tragic death of Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima in Chikangawa on June 10, 2024.
