MCP Sponsored “Msundwe Barracks Military Wing “ Attacks DPP Supporters

In a recent incident in Msundwe, supporters linked to the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) reportedly caused unrest, damaging vehicles associated with the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). This incident has escalated political tensions, with reports indicating that several cars bearing DPP insignias were smashed, intensifying fears of political violence as elections approach.

The skirmish unfolded after DPP warned its supporters of a road blockade mounted by MCP youths ,Witnesses describe MCP groups wielding stones and other objects, targeting vehicles and intimidating DPP supporters. While there are no official reports of severe injuries, the destruction of property has heightened concerns about stability in Msundwe and other politically sensitive areas.

The Malawi Police Service has yet to confirm the arrests of culprits but it’s months since they have failed to bring to book those MCP youths who damaged DPP officials property at Mbowe.

Political analysts worry that such acts could deter peaceful campaigning and disrupt the democratic process.
